Sarah Bennett
Artistic Director
Sarah Bennett (she/her/hers) is an educator, comedian, and writer. Sarah is passionate about the tenets of ensemble work that are unique to creating theater; risk, trust, creativity, vulnerability, curiosity, and, of course, laughter. In her experience growing up as a theater kid in Connecticut, she has fallen deeply in love with the magic that appears / comes in the interaction between audience and performer, and between performers. This has become the focus of her professional career.
She studied English and Film at University of Michigan, where she participated in sketch comedy as well as writing and creating original plays. After moving back to New York, where she taught 8th grade ELA in her first year, she began to pursue her Masters in Education at Lehman College. , and Education Leadership, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship at Harvard University. In addition to the work she does with The Harlem Stories Project, she teaches Ensemble to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at a middle school in West Harlem.
