The Harlem Stories Project

We are a group of middle schoolers in West Harlem who tell stories through original theater.

Year 2, week 13. We are headed into 2025 with energy, ideas, learning lessons, and gratitude. Having the space to create and tell stories has been the best gift we could have asked for.

do you hear that? It’s the POSITIVITY, ENERGY, and TALENT of the fabulous David “BS” Bradshaw @trustbs - the MVP of teaching artist who we would NOT have gotten through this tech week without.

BS is an artist, educator, beatbox extraordinaire, freestyle wizard, compassionate facilitator, and movement expert. Oh, and did I mention, a super hero/ video game resource to say the least (nerd🤓). He came in and helped our Ensemble NPCs evolve into the vibrant and distinct NPCs you’ll see on stage Thursday night.

Thanks to the #CreativeLearning grant from @lmcc_nyc, we can bring these incredible artists to our ensemble!

Now, do yourself a favor and watch this snippet we captured from todays Tech Week rehearsal. @reneefromthebay_ is captured here warming up our ensemble of actors. We love getting to work with this experienced playwright, director, teaching artist, educator, actress, and MFA all around bright light of a person. Watching Renee warm the kids up is sure to bring a smile to your face. Thanks for the energy, expertise, and emphasis on fun, Ms. Renee! ⭐️✨🌟

@lmcc_nyc has Manhattan Arts Grants that support hundreds of Manhattan-based artists, arts groups and community-focused organizations in accessing private and public funds for the presentation of arts activities in all disciplines with the public, serving communities from Inwood to The Battery.
